"Communication Through the Performing Arts"

The Kemet Summer Youth Program has operated for more than 23 years at the Emmanuel Baptist Church on Shalimar Drive in Winston-Salem, NC.  Currently, UJIMA CDC sponsors the program but it continues to be housed at Emmanuel. The program is designed “to inspire youth to build strong minds for a purposeful life”. Inspiring youth to become all that they can be must include a positive self image, a strong family foundation, village support, and exposure. Kemet explores the African and African-American experiences to expose our campers to positive influences in this global society.  Illuminating their heritage opens their minds to greater possibilities. This year, the step team participates in the National Black Theater Festival’s Youth Program. “Communication through the Performing Arts II” is this year’s theme.  Field Trips coincide with the theme.

The 9 week tuition for the first camper is $525 (including the nonrefundable $25 registration fee).  For each additional camper, the tuition is $500 (registration included). Payment plans are available. Personal checks are not accepted for any payments. Campers can be dropped off at 7:30 am and be picked up by 5:30 pm. A $10 late fee is assessed each time the camper is picked up late.

The Kemet staff looks forward to serving your family this summer.
